It’s the most elaborate and one of the most personal projects I’ve created.
Not just because it’s a long-dreaded self portrait, but also because it’s about how I feel as an artist trying to sell my own work. (Snake Oil in a Medicine Show.) I spent months researching, collecting old bottles, designing their labels, assembling the costume parts and painting the medicine show. I’m happier with this than with anything I’ve done for years.
